The Purpose of a Drain

By Danielle Robinson I once heard someone say there are three sides to every story. Your side, my side and the truth. When it comes to drains and putting them in your pond everyone has a different opinion. Some say its a good idea, other claim that its a waste of time why even bother. Well after reading this article hopefully you can come up with your own truth on whether putting a drain in your pond is really a good idea. The main purpose for having a drain at the bottom of your pond is actually for your fish. Your drain will pick up all of you fishs waste and the other solids that can collect in your pond. Some people say that having a drain in the bottom of your pond is bad because it removes all of the ammonia and aerates. Which we all know keeps our pond clear and healthy. Even though this is partially true it should have little effect when your pond is 5 feet or deeper. Even so, the benefits of having a drain out way this small amount of evidence. When your pond was built with a liner or if you are planning on building one, make sure that the liner has a small hole in the lowest portion. You should create this hole of course for your drain. By doing this you are eliminating possible leaks in the future. Many people dont agree with this nature claiming that it takes up time and it can be expensive to install a drain. The only time that I would agree with this is if you have a small shallow pond. It can be quite expensive as well as a hassle but the end results are worth it. make sure that if you plain on getting a drain that there are no rocks or gravel on the liner. Having rocks would totally delete the drains purpose. When you have drain located at the bottom of your pond you are reassured that the water is going through it properly and that your water is being recirculated. Which works really well for larger ponds. Most pumps and waterfalls can aerate your pond water as well. The best way to test your pond conditions for this matter is by looking at the dissolved oxygen levels with a meter. With a bottom drain however you already know thats its clearly doing its job. Well now that we have reached the end I hope that I have made your decision on the matter at hand a little easier. Like anything else that comes with owning a watergarden you have many choices in which you can make. You can go back and forth with why getting a drain is good or why getting a drain is bad. At the end of the day decide what you think is best for you and what would properly benefit you in the long run. Dannielle Robinson is a Chicago based freelance writer and water gardening enthusiast. She has made a study of water gardening, ponds, and pond kits, and she provides consulting to friends and neighbors who are interested in contracting her services. How to Get Your Cheapest Cell Phone Service Plan and Providers

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Daymon_Hoag]Daymon Hoag Shopping for a good cell phone service plan is not the same
as shopping for garbage bags where more often than not,
cheaper is better. Even with garbage bags you get what you
pay for. Finding the best cellular provider for your
personal needs is a bit more complicated, but doesn't have
to be painful or mind boggling. We are all naturally inclined to search for the cheapest
cell phone service the same way we might scan over flyers in
the Sunday paper looking for those cheap prices and special
offers. If this is how you are shopping for cell phone
carriers, you are not going to be a very happy camper once
you start getting your bill. There are two major factors you absolutely must consider
before you purchase a cell phone plan. Usage, and plan
types. By understanding your calling habits, and the
difference in cell phone calling plans, you've already won
half the battle in lowering your cell phone bill or keeping
you cellular bill low before you even purchase a plan. A common misconception is that cell phone service can be
grouped into two plan types. Prepaid and monthly. While this
is somewhat true, prepaid itself can also be broken down
into two separate categories. Monthly prepaid, and pay as
you go. Before considering your usage you'll want to make
sure you understand the plans. Pay as you go cell phone service is a type of prepaid
cellular plan that allows you to use the cell phone service
very much the same way you might use a prepaid phone card by
purchasing your minutes in advance. A pay as you go cell
phone plan is best for people who just want the cell phone
for emergencies, or will rarely use the cell phone. Monthly prepaid cell phone plans are much more convenient
than pay as you go, since many prepaid providers offer
extras similar to monthly cell phone plans such as
mobile-to-mobile minutes or nights and weekends as free
calling time. Since it's prepaid, you can't go over your
minutes, so these plans are perfect if you'll need to make
calls frequently but are on a budget. Monthly cell phone plans probably don't require a whole lot
of explanation; However, if you want the cheapest monthly
cell phone service you may still want to think about who in
your family is using pay as you go, or monthly prepaid by
that same cellular provider in order to get the most from
your free mobile-to-mobile minutes. This applies to all three cellular service types. Check with
your friends and family members. Find out who they are using
for service. If you are a Cingular customer, you can call
other Cingular customers, and GoPhone by Cingular customers
free and vice versa by taking advantage of your free
mobile-to-mobile calling. Verizon has similar plans with compatible mobile-to-mobile
between it's prepaid and monthly customers. Cingular also
offers roll over minutes, so any of your Cingular, or
GoPhone anytime minutes you don't use in any given month,
will roll over for use in the following month. So who offers the cheapest cell phone service? I would have
to say, even though their bottom line price is a little more
than other cell phone service providers, most people are
going to save money with the advanced calling features and
plans provided by GoPhone for prepaid, or Cingular for
monthly, with Verizon running a close second. So the next time you're searching for the cheapest cell
phone service, consider your usage habits, cellular plan
types, and friends and family with compatible services. Make
sure you consider these factors as a priority above bottom
line price. This way you'll get more for your money and find
yourself a winner. Daymon Hoag is the Founder of [http://www.cheapest-service.com]Cheapest Service. White Sun - The Three Persons

By Teow Aun Chew During the era of Confucius more than 2,500 years ago, the position of a master or a teacher was highly regarded as a person of virtue and wisdom. In addition to impart his wisdom to help solving all types of problems, he must also be able to pass on the sacred knowledge of Truth to others. So when he said, When three persons are walking together, there must be one who can be his master, who is the one that he is referring to? This master or teacher that Confucius was referring to is not any ordinary human being. When a Saint such as Confucius spoke, he knew exactly what he was saying as these statements were documented and compiled by his disciples into collection of his seminal teachings. Why did Confucius refer to only three persons and not more or less? There must be some deep meanings that he was trying to convey indirectly. He used the word must meaning he was very sure that amongst these three people, there must be one who can be our master. What if all these three people are lunatics or criminals? Can anyone of them fit to be our master? This was said more than 2,500 years ago where nobody could just simply walk around the street and ask anyone to be his master or teacher. If we look carefully into the mirror, we see two tiny reflections of own selves in our eyes. These two persons are little people and in Chinese, little people are called xiao ren which actually means people who are unscrupulous and unrighteous moral character. Devious or treacherous people are also known as xiao ren and also refer to a lay mortal being, a person whose existence carries little significance to the world. In that context, let us look and ponder for a moment why are our eyes considered as xiao ren? We often hear the saying of see no evil. Why do people say that? This is where most sins begin to start. The two eyes are the channels through which most temptations begin to take hold in our heart. Buddha referred to the two eyes as thieves, the thieves who could steal away the treasures inside our temple of God. We often get upset or angry by what we see and these two eyes can also deprive us from our basic goodness. The very reason that the two thieves steal is because the master of the house is still asleep. Who is this master that is still asleep? He is the master that Confucius refers to as his master! Look again carefully into the mirror; we can locate this third person on our face. This third person in the center between the two little persons is the big person and this big person is in the form of a Chinese character ren which means human. Ren comprised of two lines, one line on the left and the other line on the right and these two lines flow nicely along our cheeks beside our nose and join in between the eyes. At this joining point is the point of The Mystical Door which is also known as The Divine Eye or The Third Eye or The Dot. In Chinese big person is called da ren meaning superior person of magnanimity, nobility and righteousness. These three persons exist together when we are alive. When we are dead, these three persons are gone. It is like when a doctor sees a patient in coma, the first reaction is to shine a torch into the irises of the patient and see if the reflections of the two little persons are still there. If they are gone, it means that the big person inside is gone as well. Confucius tells us that out of these three persons, one can be his master and which one? The answer is obvious, the noble and the righteous one in the center. The Mystical Door is the root of our inner conscience and the True Self and is the point of utter goodness. It is our inner master and we should act and follow in accordance with its guidance. Our conscience is pure and before we do or say something, we should contemplate carefully with our conscience. By constantly referring to our inner master, we will be able to change our ways and overcome our shortcomings. It is important to nurture the strength of our inner master and let this master be the guide of our way of being and life. With regards to See no evil, do no evil, speak no evil and listen to no evil, my Heavenly Teacher JiGong said, Use your discerning eyes to know clearly the True and the False and your swift hands to build merits and foster virtues. Apply your light and speedy feet to step through the roads of the world. And your supple mind to manage the affairs of Tao. Let not your tidy and clean mouth pass on bad words and your clear and calm ears listen to gossip. Author: T.A Chew T.A Chew saw the vision of the three persons on 2nd November 1995 at around 4.30am. It was the manifestation of three holy ghosts from the underworld representing the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and the two criminals at the skull. Jesus Christ (superior person) was at the centre of the three and the two criminals (little persons) at his side representing the two eyes (the thieves). Why Litigation Is Nothing More Than A Business Tool - 26 Unbreakable Rules of Litigation!

By Daniel S. Pea, Sr From Bill Gates at the end of the last century to John D. Rockefeller at the end of the previous century; from Rick Scott, founder of Columbia Health Care, to AT&T: from Richard Branson and British Airlines to Dan Pea and The Financial Times; from government, banking, insurance and every other facet of world commerce - to grow geometrically and stay around, litigation must be (prudently) used and mastered. I will, as briefly as I can, memorialize the salient points of using litigation as a business tool. Now before I start, I want it on the record, some 50% of my 30-year track record of litigation has had nothing to do with winning money, i.e., many lawsuits have been over principle, some were to right a heinous wrong such as slanderous remarks made about me; and some were because an entity just needed a good comeuppance and nobody else would carry the flag into battle. I, like Don Quixote, have fought many a windmill. As you've heard me speak and write about, when building your 'Dream Team,' you want Big Five accountants and a large national or international firm of lawyers - the best representation you can't afford! Unlike the success-oriented fees I coach you to use when facilitating transactions, no law firm will litigate initially on this basis. Perhaps if your case is especially strong, they will do it on a contingency basis. Unfortunately, you will be using, from time-to-time, litigation as a positioning tool and your case may not be something you can seriously leverage. A year or two ago, being left with a pig-in-a-poke, I had to litigate a case having specious facts at best to support my desired outcome. Fortunately, our (my) apparent lust for litigation was stronger than their desire to fight a hard fight, so a reasonably good settlement was finally arrived at. Of course, during this process my good lawyers counseled us, advising our case needed to be much stronger, etc. Even with great lawyers, it is their job to tell you the downside risks. Again, what happens is you are often scared from pursuing your case. Good lawyers win so-so lawsuits. Great lawyers can win lawsuits in which you have little or no chance to win. Three of my favorite litigators over the years are Steve Susman and Cyrus Marter IV of Susman Godfrey in Houston, Dallas, Los Angeles and Seattle and Tim Harris of Charleston Revich & Williams in Los Angeles. All three have dug me out of some pretty big black holes. I've dealt with them 10 and 20 years respectively. They are worth every penny they charge! Our judicial system works, but we grow up being afraid of it. It's way out of our comfort zone so we preclude ourselves from benefitting from it. Normally the cost associated with it keeps us from using it. In fact, I'm currently embroiled in litigation where the ancillary players to the litigation have rights which are being severely violated. A large group of people could bring great pressure to bear, but they're afraid because of previous bad experiences. They could get what they deserve but aren't pursuing their best interests. There are lawyers who take on cases for humanitarian reasons, if the case warrants, in business as well, i.e., big major corporations taking advantage of the system because of their size alone. Why do you want to initiate the lawsuit so you are the plaintiff? As the plaintiff, you pick where and when the lawsuit is fought and probably ultimately adjudicated. This can be a huge advantage. And secondly, the plaintiff is allowed two closing arguments, meaning you (your lawyer) gets to address the judge and/or jury once and then again after the defendants' closing argument. This can also be very important. 26 Unbreakable Rules of Litigation #1 CHOOSE YOUR BATTLES #2 CHOOSE THE VENUE #3 BE THE PLAINTIFF #4 HAVE THE BEST REPRESENTATION #5 LISTEN TO YOUR HEART #6 DON'T LISTEN TO YOUR SICK STOMACH WHEN YOU'RE OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE #7 DON'T LISTEN TO RELATIVES, FRIENDS, ET AL #8 LISTEN TO EXPERIENCED LITIGANTS - LIKE ME! #9 GENERALLY SPEAKING, DON'T WORRY ABOUT THE COST (THIS IS VERY HARD!) #10 BIG LAWSUITS ARE BETTER THAN SMALL ONES #11 ELECT JURY TRIALS, AS OPPOSED TO A JUDGE ONLY #12 PREPARATION (YOURS) IS EVERYTHING - KNOW THE FACTS #13 PRACTICE DEPOSITIONS AND TRIALS #14 IF YOU ARE THINKING OF A BETTER STRATEGY, GET A NEW LAWYER (NOT TRUE IN MY CASE) #15 NEVER GIVE UP #16 DON'T BE INTIMIDATED BY THE PROCESS #17 USE MOCK TRIALS (PRETEND TRIALS YOU DO IN FRONT OF A HIRED JURY) #18 DRESS SIMPLE AND CONSERVATIVELY IN COURT - NO JEWELRY EXCEPT A WEDDING BAND; WHITE SHIRT, PLAIN TIE AND DARK SUIT FOR MEN AND THE EQUIVALENT FOR WOMEN; SHORT GROOMED HAIR FOR MEN #19 DON'T LOSE YOUR TEMPER IN COURT - IT'S OKAY TO CRY IF IT'S REAL #20 HAVE YOUR SPOUSE IN THE FRONT ROW EVERY DAY. CHILDREN ALSO IF POSSIBLE. OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS IN SECOND ROW IS OKAY #21 NO QUOTES TO THE PRESS OTHER THAN 'WE BELIEVE IN OUR CASE AND THAT IS WHY WE WENT TO COURT'. YOUR WORDS CAN EASILY BE TURNED AROUND. #22 WHEN YOU BREAK FOR LUNCH OR A RECESS, REMEMBER NEVER TALK IN PUBLIC ABOUT THE CASE - YOU NEVER KNOW WHO MIGHT OVERHEAR #23 WHEN YOU FIND A LEGAL TEAM THAT WINS, STAY WITH THEM #24 ALWAYS TELL THE TRUTH, NO MATTER WHAT. THE TRUTH SHALL SET YOU FREE. #25 DURING VIDEOTAPED DEPOSITIONS AND IN COURT, LOOK AT THE CAMERA AND THE JURY. MAKE EYE CONTACT. #26 WHEN TESTIFYING IN A DEPOSITION/TRIAL, IF YOU DON'T KNOW THE ANSWER, SAY YOU DON'T KNOW THE ANSWER It's a closed world of top litigators. Virtually all big law firms have good to super-good lawyers. All big law firms don't have great litigators. You don't always need a great lawyer, but sometime if you grow geometrically, you will. Like any other project management, litigation must be managed. Unfortunately, like speech-giving, you become a great litigant by going through a learning curve. I don't mean you have to get involved in losing efforts (like making bad speeches so after some time you make good speeches) to get in a position to win in court. Large law firms will allow you to get ahead of the learning curve. The Quantum Leap methodology talks ad nauseam about following your dreams. Life without dreams is like a bird with a broken wing - it can't fly. I wrote this newsletter because sometimes you'll need litigation to follow your dream. Go out and kick some butt, and don't let conventional wisdom keep you from achieving your dream. Conventional wisdom says Don't Litigate. All high-performance people and the great organizations of the last one hundred years did and do litigate as I write this letter. Don't litigate frivolously - but don't be afraid to either. A Brief History Of Cheesecake To 1545

By Andrew Krause Ever since the beginning of time, man has been striving to make the perfect cheesecake. Today, there are literally thousands of cheesecake recipes. Everyone has their favorite. But when did this craze really begin? How did we get from the early days of cheesecake to the famous New York Cheesecake that we enjoy today? Cheesecake was a very popular dish in Ancient Greece. But when the Roman's conquered Greece, the secret fell into the hands of the Romans and nothing's been the same since. Actually, the Roman version of cheesecake was much different from the Greek form of the delicious wonder. Roman cheesecake became known as placenta. It was sometimes baked on a pastry base and other times it was enclosed in a pastry case. The Roman cheesecake was actually often used as an offering to the Gods. In the first century BC, a gentleman by the name of Marcus Porcius Cato, came up with a wonderful recipe for cheesecake. He lived from 234 to 139 BC. He was a Roman politician. See, even politicians can have good taste in food. This recipe of his was the only work of his that was ever preserved, which is quite ironic since his main focus was in politics. This recipe that he came up with was often given as a temple offering. It wasn't until 230 AD that the first "modern" recipe for cheesecake was recorded. This was a recipe that was recorded by Athenaeus, a Greek writer. By today's standards, this recipe, which reads as follows, would be considered laughable. "Take cheese and pound it till smooth and pasty; put cheese in a brazen sieve; add honey and spring wheat flour. Heat in one mass, cool, and serve." That is the actual recipe as it was discovered by archeologists. Quite crude in comparison to the elaborate cheesecake recipes that we have today. It wasn't until 1000 AD that cheesecake was finally brought to Great Britain and Western Europe. This was done by Roman conquering armies. Shortly after this time cheesecake slowly spread throughout the area. The number of different recipes also started to increase and began to look a little more like the ones we're used to today. In 1545 the first cookbook containing a cheesecake recipe was printed. The book actually focused more on other types of foods as it was a traditional type of cookbook. But inside was one recipe for cheesecake printed below. To make a tarte of Chese - Take harde Chese and cutte it in slyces, and pare it, than laye it in fayre water, or in swete mylke, the space of three houres, then take it up and breake it in a morter tyll it be small, than drawe it up thorowe a strainer with the yolkes of syxe egges, and season it wyth suger and swete butter, and so bake it. You will notice the English is quite bad. This was how the actual recipe was printed. Obviously the English language itself has come a long way in 500 years. Since that time, cheesecake recipes have become quite elaborate and quite good. New York Cheesecake is probably one of the most popular. Now that you know how cheesecake came to be, why not run out and get yourself a good slice. You deserve it, after all. Keeping Weight Off is Hard to Do, But the Alternative is Unthinkable

By Geoff Morris In America today, one of the most talked about topics is the epidemic proportion of obesity amongst the population, and with it, the actual health of the nation. In CNN Presents, there is even a whole section called 'Fat Chance' (the next airing is February 5 at 8 p.m., 11 p.m. ET). http://imnosey.com/fp . Although there is a whole industry dedicated to diet control, weight loss programs, exercise programs, this is really like putting the cart before the horse. We all know how difficult it is to start - let alone maintain - a different, almost alien, style of existence, even though we fully understand the dangers that being overweight will bring us. Heart problems, diabetes, damage to the body joints through carrying excess baggage everywhere, are just a few of the many problems generated let alone the associated millions spent in extra health care repairing this damage. In fact although much aligned for being 'false' you very rarely see many successful Hollywood style actors carrying tremendous amounts of fat, unless it is deliberate. Why they should be maligned, it is difficult to know, as they should be treated as role models to many of us. But they don't just magically get these lean, muscular looking bodies there is a price to pay, and that price is discipline. Discipline not only in their dietary habits, but also in how they 'sculpt' their bodies. How do you think that actors may appear as skinny runts in one epic film, and then in the next, have a completely different body shape? Contrary to popular belief, it's not down to the makeup studio, but by darned hard work, and a dedication to meet targets, change habits, and have a goal that they are aiming for, which is usually a monetary one (although egos may have just a little bit of influence here). Whether you are a man or a woman, many of us carry around in our heads, that image of our perfectly shaped body, lean and muscularly toned, and with very little evidence of layers of blubber. It is a fact that every person has a 'six pack' -it's just very difficult to see it when the equivalent of a Wal*Mart shopping bag full of sloppy fat effectively smothers it (although normally full of the best value shopping). Unfortunately, unless you are introduced to some kind of disciplined action, this image remains what it is - just an image, and will die with you if you never get out of the upwardly fatty existence you have chosen for yourself. Now, one of the biggest, and most lucrative businesses to be in at the moment would seen to be weight control, and unfortunately, like everything else, the worried would-be weight watcher can lose their shirt by trying this solution, then that solution, then the next best thing solution. Because the one major thing missing in all of these is the discipline, the self control, the monitoring of what is going on. So many people jump from what may well be a good solution to the next as they see no perceptible results. One person who seems to have got this disciple nailed down to a fine art is a chap from the Mid West called Ryan Joyce. Ryan did a lot research on weight lifting and body sculpting some five years ago, and what he found was actually quite obvious. Contrarily to what every fast-buck-company claims about their so-called, "dieting secrets", "miracle weight loss pills", "super supplements", "special issue muscle magazines" and other "schemes", at this hour the majority of people trying to get fit and build the body of their dreams are simply not getting it done. What was missing was a comprehensive control of what people were doing. They would start off with the best of intentions, but after a couple of weeks with no appreciable success - well- it would be off to the next one. Ryan's approach was different. He spent a long time creating a solution for his own body, and actually reduced his body fat by over 57% in just over 12 weeks; this was a combination of exercise, diet control, the use of some supplements, and one heck of a lot of discipline. He then tried this program on a number of people, by creating a 12 week day by day diary of events, and found that he could reproduce results on others, as long as they strictly followed his program. OK, his web site has a massive following from natural body builders and fitness models, and aspiring actors who need to have the latest 'Ripped' or 'Shredded' look. (For those of you not in the know ' Ripped' refers to ripping off the fat and baring the muscles, Shredded refers to the highly defined definitions of major muscle groups like biceps). A lot of the success of this sort of approach is the 'Peer Pressure' it invokes. Once you have achieved the body of your dreams, you are not going to want to fill it up with cheap processed and fried food any more. And we all know that peer pressure is far more powerful than any Doctors warning about the danger we face while wobbling around with our fatty, cholesterol clogged arteries, with undue weight loads on our joints and backs. So 'Get Ripped', or 'Get Shredded', or whatever term you want to use - but turn your body back into the temple it is, and give it your full respect. You only ever have one, and you know what happens to buildings that get neglected over the years. Copyright 2006 Geoff Morris Geoff Morris has built up a multi-million dollar property portfolio, (http://propertyprofits4u.com)and has now turned his attention to personal fitness by taking over the site made famous by Ryan Joyce. This site cuts through all the confusion surrounding natural bodybuilders and fitness models.possible. Wedding Ideas for Brides: 5 Ways To Capture Your Wedding Memories Forever

By Lesley Mattos As far back as a girl can remember, she dreams of her wedding day. She imagines - to every last detail - things like: what type of wedding dress she will wear, what color the bridesmaids dresses will be and even more importantly, who that perfect man will be who becomes her husband. When that day finally arrives, it is the most important day of the brides life - a day she wants to look back on with fond memories for years to come. For more and more brides, one of the most perfect ways to capture their wedding is to create an Instant Photo Guest Book similar to the one created by Adesso Albums. Having such a keepsake, scrapbook or photo album to open up and share with your spouse, family and friends is the best way to capture the wedding days memory forever. Instant Photo Guest Books are a unique "marriage" of a photo album and a guest book. To create a photo guest book at a wedding, simply take Polaroid pictures, slip them into your guest book and have the guests write their personalized messages to you the bride and your groom on the guest book pages. This will capture your wedding event instantly in pictures and wordsand you wont even have to wait weeks to get your photographs returned from your wedding photographer. Youll be able to enjoy it as soon as its over. However, the beauty of these keepsake albums is that it can be used for all parts of your wedding event: engagement party, bridal shower, bachelorette party, rehearsal dinner, wedding, reception and even the honeymoon. Here are 5 other great ideas to capture your wedding moments: 1. Wish Bowl Heres an idea, that wont even cost you a dime. The purpose of a wedding Wish Bowl is to provide an opportunity for guests to wish good fortunes to follow the Bride and Groom wherever they go. The idea is to have your guests write their wishes for love and life on little slips of paper and place them into a crystal or decorative glass bowl or vase. You dont even have to buy one if you have a nice vase or bowl at home already. For a more formal presentation, the slips of paper can be placed into little matching wedding stationary envelopes. The stationary paper and envelopes should match the Brides color theme and/or wedding stationary. After the wedding events are over, the notes can be read and placed into a wedding album or scrapbook while the bowl or vase can be used for the home or decoration. 2. Wish Tree The Wish Tree theme, similar to the Wish Bowl, is for guests at the wedding to write down their wishes for love and life to the Bride and Groom - except instead of the bowl, a tree is used to collect the wishes. There are many types of Wish Trees - your can purchase metal ones, or fashion your own using blooming branches from a garden or florist, or even use a live potted plant such as a fichus tree. Gift boxes can be hung from the tree of your choice and your guests can take a box off the tree in exchange for their wishes. After the wedding events are over, the wishes can be taken off the tree and placed in a keepsake box, scrapbook or album. 3. Signature Platter Wedding Signature Platters or plates make a unique alternative to traditional wedding guest books. The platter can be plain, decorative or even custom designed and ordered online or from a wedding stationary store. Guests simply sign the platter during the wedding event with a special ceramic marker and after the wedding events are over, the platter is fired in your home oven. The special signature platter can be used for serving favorite dishes at future dinner parties as husband and wife or just as a decorative memento of the special gathering. 4. Framed Signature Mat Similar to the Signature Platter, the Signature Mat is another alternative to the traditional wedding guest book. A photo of the Bride and Groom - often a before wedding photo (like an engagement photo) - is placed in an acid free matte and mounted either on an easel or table in the entry area of the wedding reception. Guests sign their name and well wishes to the Bride and Groom on the mat surrounding the picture. The Signature Mat is then framed for the newlyweds new home. The before wedding photo can be replaced with a wedding photo of the couple before framing. 5. Typewriter Guest Book The Typewriter Guest Book is Martha Stewarts latest discovery for a guest book alternative. Look for an old-fashioned, inexpensive typewriter either online, from a flea market or thrift shop but make SURE it works - and set it out on a table in the entry area of the wedding reception. Load the typewriter with long sheets of paper for guests to type in good wishes to the Bride and Groom along with their name and any sentiment that comes to mind. After the wedding, the page can be tied into a scroll with ribbon or framed along with pictures taken at the wedding.
