By Terje Ellingsen Before I start to talk about teen relationships I feel I have to make a clarification. Many people when they think of the word relationship, automatically equate it to love or sexual relationship. According to the general definition of relationship this is any connection between two or more elements and these elements can be anything from chemical substances to human beings. So from this definition it is simple to deduct the meaning of this word applied to human beings. A teen relationship can be any kind of relationship
between teens of the same gender between teens of the opposite gender, like boyfriend girlfriend relationships between teens and other persons of the same or different gender and different age.
The quality of these relationships can also vary, but there are two kinds of teenager relationships I'm going to talk about here;
teen friendships and teen love relationships
Teen Friendships This kind of teenager relationship will fit into all three categories above. It can exist between a teenager and other persons of same or different gender and age. A good friend - no matter age or gender - is one of the best things you can have on this earth. A really good friend that is special to you and means much to you. A person that is always there for you. Many successful love relationships has started with friendship and this is probably the reason for it's success. The better you know the other person, the better you'll go along with him or her and in a long lasting love relationship - as man and woman - your appreciation of your partner as a friend will mean much more than anything else. If we look at it from the other end, it seems much more difficult to build a friendship from a love or sexual relationship. In fact, I have not heard about it, maybe you have but the point is that a good friendship is always good to have both as a basis of a future love relationship and as a friendship by itself. A teenage friendship can exist between anyone no matter what gender, age, race, background or whatever. A 13 year old girl and a 50 year old man can have a great and even lifelong friendship together as well as two teenagers of the same gender. Teen love relationships While you can talk quite frankly and straight forward in a friendship most of us are more aware of not hurting the partner in a love relationship. This can evolve to a degree of lies and even no communication at all just to protect your partner. There are also more mutual expectations in a love relationship and more intimate emotions are involved than in a good friendship. A teen love relationship can be great and long lasting but if there is no basis of friendship in it the probability of sustaining it is significantly lower. There are some legally defined limitations with regards to who can go into a teen love or sexual relationship. It is illegal for people of 18 years and above to have a sexual relation to a minor but It is definitely not illegal to have older friends. A good friendship is one of the best gifts God has provided our lives with and even if you marry the sweetest boy or girl in the world, neither of you will be happy if you aren't good friends. For our children to become the adults we envision, we need to allow them the opportunities in youth to learn about life and how to make decisions that are best for them or in their interest, not ours. This decision making opportunity comes at a very young age. When we redo something, we need to think about the disempowering message sent to the person who has just spent their time and energy on a task. Is that the message we want to give? Today children are SO busy with activities and homework that we often find it easier to let them off the hook with their chores. Our rationalization is that they can get their homework done sooner so they can actually have some free time to play. As important as down time is, it does a disservice to our children when we let these things slide. Responsibilities in the home provide an opportunity for developing self-discipline and learning problem solving skills, while contributing to the care of the home. Simple chore charts are great reminders for what needs to be done and decreases our need to remind, or nag as they would say. Asking what needs to be done rather than reminding them what needs to be done allows children to think about things and places the responsibility for tasks back on them. Brilliant Beetroot!

By Judy Williams Are you looking for a truly versatile vegetable to grow and serve? Try beetroot! It has the most amazing colour
and texture. Varieties range in colour from gold to deep red/purple and are delicious raw, boiled,
baked, pickled and juiced. Even the leaves are edible! The root is packed with Vitamin C and the
leaves are a great source of Vitamin A and potassium. Beetroot is native to the Mediterranean so needs a fairly warm climate to do well. Unlike most of
the plants we've discussed in the past, the seeds should be planted directly into the garden (or container)
without going through the transplant stage. Soak the seeds in water overnight to help germination, before planting. You
should see your plants emerge in 10-14 days. Two or three plants will emerge from each of the seed
clumps, but then you have to make a decision before thinning. Do you want to eat the leaves or the root? If you pick the leaves often, the root will develop poorly. Some sort of trade off has to be made. Even so,
small beets are better than no beets at all. Vegetables do best when they grow quickly and beets are no exception. Feed them every couple of
weeks with a good water soluble plant food. They should be ready to harvest in 8-12 weeks. Preparing Beetroot When boiling beetroot (in salted water), always leave the skin on. Otherwise the colour will run.
Allow to cool, peel, then cut to size.
Wrap in foil and bake, just like a potato. Then serve it with sour cream and chives.
Juice it raw with carrots and celery
Whip up some Russian Borscht. Again, the sour cream and beetroot combo is excellent.
Cut it up into a salad. Some herbs that really get along with it include dill, caraway, rocket and chicory.
Pickle it and use it to add zing to your salad sandwiches. I LOVE this.
One small sidetrack...you may want to use disposable gloves when handling before a dinner party...it can
stain your fingers for a day or two... Want a different sort of dip for a starter? Try this one...the colour is WILD! Spicy Beetroot Dip 4 medium beetroot
3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
2 pita bread
250ml natural yoghurt
2 cloves garlic crushed
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon chilli powder (optional)
Salt to taste Preheat oven to 180C. Peel beetroot and cut into 1" cubes.
Coat the beetroot with olive oil by tossing in a bowl. Spread
cubes on an oven tray and cook until soft, about 30 minutes.
Remove and let cool. Once beetroot is cooked and removed, turn the oven up to 200C.
Cut the pita bread into dipping pieces, either triangles or strips.
Spread them out on a baking tray and bake for 10 minutes, or
until crisp. Place the cool beetroot with all other dip ingredients in a blender and puree. Display your spicy purple dip in a bowl surrounded by crispy dipping pita strips. The Old Testament Psalm 2 says that when the Jewish Messiah comes, he will take a rod of iron and crush every last non Jewish man, woman and child into a million pieces and conquer the World for Judaism. The irony is that Christianity adopted the Old Testament into their Holy Bibles as did Islam and now all 3 religions believe that when the Messiah arrives on Delta flight 929, he will crush all non believers like a potters vessel into a billion pieces, because they read it in Psalm 2 of their Holy Bible, and the people are now following that lead. As you can see, as long as Judaism, Christianity, and Islam exist, there can never be Peace on Earth, ever. Their Holy Bibles forbid it. MRACC is a public Service Committee which serves the public, water users and the Organisations who manage blue-gree Alage in the NSW Murray River catchment. It was the Year 1878 when the first first Australian toxic bloom of blue-green algae was discovered in Lake Alexandria, South Australia.The reports of harmful blooms have been increased which are badly affecting the water use. In the Summer of 1991-1992, The worlds largest Algal Bloom was recorded at the Barwon-Darling River System. The range of this poisionous bloom was 1000 km as authentically reported by the Blue-Green Algae Task Force 1992. The algae are a polyphyletic and paraphyletic group of organisms. They are defined in differing ways, but are usually considered to be the photosynthetic organisms excepting plants. Using the term 'plants' in its most restrictive fashion, the algae are then photosynthetic organisms excepting the sister group to the Charales (i.e. the land plants). Such a definition allows inclusion of photosynthetic prokaryotes such as the cyanobacteria. The definition applied here is that the algae is that artificial subset of the photosynthetic eukaryotes which excludes the sister group to the Charales (land plants). Algal bloom: An algal bloom (http://www.murraybluegreenalgae.com/algalblooms.php) occurs when the numbers of algal cells increase rapidly to reach concentrations usually high enough to be visible to the naked eye. This high growth reproduction require favourable conditions such as high nutrient or light levels. Many types of algae form blooms. As algae in a cyanobacterial bloom die, the water may smell bad. Dangers of HABs 1. They spoil water quality when present in large numbers by producing odours or thick scums. 2. They can make drinking water smell and taste bad. 3. They can make recreational areas unpleasant. 4. Dense blooms can block sunlight killing other plants and animals. 5. When algae decompose they may use up oxygen in the water and cause fish kills. 6. Some cyanobacteria that can produce toxins that are among the most powerful natural poisons known. The toxins are poisonous to humans and may be deadly to livestock and pets. 7. CyanoHABs can make people, their pets, and other animals sick. Often, the first sign that an HAB exists is a sick dog that has been swimming in an algae-filled pond. Children are at higher risk than adults for illness from CyanoHABs because they weigh less and can get a relatively larger dose of toxin. Safety Precautions We can protect ourselves, our family and our pets from exposure to HABs by following the instructions as under:- 1) Don't swim, water ski, or boat in areas where the water is discolored or where you see foam, scum, or mats of algae on the water. 2) If you do swim in water that might have a HAB, rinse off with fresh water as soon as possible. 3) Don't let pets or livestock swim in or drink from areas where the water is discolored or where you see foam, scum, or mats of algae on the water. 4) If pets (especially dogs) swim in scummy water, rinse them off immediately-do not let them lick the algae (and toxins) off their fur. 5) Don't irrigate lawns or golf courses with pond water that looks scummy or smells bad. 6) Report any "musty" smell or taste in your drinking water to your local water utility. 7) Respect any water-body closures announced by local public health authorities. Prevention The Algal bloom can be prevented in the following ways: 1) Algae need three things for optimal growth: light, nutrients and high temperatures. There are countless scriptures that state that the earth will last for eternity but it will be cleaned by fire to renew it back to its origional state. God declaired that what He created was good and no where in scripture have I ever found that God ever destroyed that which was good.[ ref.Gen.1:1-10]
These next verses are also prophecy. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows. Luke 21:20-28 And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh. Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto. For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people. And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

How much more do the people of the earth have to see before they realize that the end is drawing closer each day? How much more do the people of the earth have to see before they turn to the only one who guarantees safety?
How much more do the people of the earth have to see before they realize that there is another side of Jesus? Jesus will return but not as a babe, not as a Lamb but as a Warier in revenge for unbridled sin and corruption. A destroying angle bringing justice and righteousness upon the earth. How much more do the ministers of God have to see before they also start teaching prophecy, especially those that believe that Revelations is fulfilled? How much more? 4 Things Every Orchid Grower Should Know

By Lee Dobbins If you are an aspiring orchid grower than you know how beautiful these plants are and how rewarding it is to grow them in your own home. Many people are hesitant to try to grow these exotic beauties as they feel that too much specialized equipment is required and the novice grower just really doesn't have a chance to be successful. This really couldn't be further from the truth and, in fact, it is not that hard to successfully grow orchids given that you provide them with the 4 necessities listed below. 1. Humidity Being tropical plants, orchids to require a lot of humidity and any successful orchid grower will tell you that this is key to having good plants. Since orchids need at least 50% humidity you will have to set your growing space up to provide for that. One way to do this is to set down a tray filled with pebbles and filled out with water. Then using some sort of us stand, set your orchid pots in the tray on top of the stand so that the bottoms of the pots are not actually in the water. Misting can also give you orchid's humidity but you need to be careful that the leaves can thoroughly dry and therefore you would need good air circulation before may sting them. 2. Water Like all growing plants, orchids need water, but a common mistake that many growers make is to think that because they require high humidity that they must be watered continuously, this is simply not true and overwatering is a sure way to kill an orchid. You should one of them when the soil becomes dry which is usually about once a week. Water until the soil is moist but take care not to overwater. If the soil in your orchid pot remains wet for more than a day than you over watered it. You can add some water soluble fertilizer formulated specially for orchids but only during the growing season. 3. Light Of course orchids need plenty of light to grow properly especially during the summer. During the winter months they can get by on about four hours. Beginning at Thanksgiving and continuing through New Years we gather with family and friends and surround ourselves with vast quantities of delicious foods. On many such days we eat all day long and then sit down to a bountiful meal and eat some more. After Weight Loss Surgery (WLS) this day-long grazing is a catastrophic habit to indulge. The reconstructed stomach pouch, which holds about one-cup of food volume, protects WLS patients from over-eating at the dinner table. But it is entirely possible for a WLS patient to graze through the day and consume over 1,500 calories noshing on traditional appetizers. This is thin ice for WLS patients because grazing allows us to out-eat the pouch. Grazing is the number one reason patients report weight gain after weight loss. For those of you who dont know about rhubarb, it grows from a huge root ball under the soil. A mass of stalks shoot through the soil each topped with a leaf the size of an elephants ear. OK a small elephants ear, but its big. The stalks are red near the ground, greener toward the leaf, and they grow to be the size of a childs arm. It tries to take control of the garden. It shades everything nearby so those plants cant grow as desired. In its raw state, it is bitter, sour, and it can be toxic if you use the wrong parts. If you chew on it, it bites back in ways you dont expect. Does this sound like your numero-uno relationship, with your spouse or partner? Does it feel a little rhubarbish sometimes? Helping people enhance their relationship is our speciality. One of the biggest problems we see is that people begin to take each other for granted. We often hear people talk about their partner. Black Men and Women Coming to the Table

By Debbie Wright Many would agree there is a need for Black men and women to come together and work towards healing our relationships. Black people have the lowest marriage rates and the highest divorce rates. Where approximately 60% of white adults marry, only 40% of Black adults marry. And only one-third of Black children grow up in two parent homes. Passing blame and point fingers only hinders our progress. We need to come together and communicate openly and honestly to figure out ways to bridge the communication gap that destroys our relationships. For the past three years, I have been involved with forming roundtable discussion groups titled, 'Withholding the Ring' that addresses the low marriage rate among African Americans. I have met several Black women in their late thirties and even early forties that are worried about their prospects of ever getting married. Some of these women have completely given up on their marriage ideals and opted to have children outside of marriage. The prevailing message suggests that it is more likely for Black women to become mothers than wives. The roundtable discussions I facilitate provide safe environments for men and women to honesty discuss the issues that affect how we relate to one another. The men have reported to me that the events leave them truly affected by how their non-committal behavior affects women. And some of the women have come back to me and confessed that they did not realize how much they truly needed their men until we all came together and truthfully communicated. I would like to share some of the events that take place during these roundtable discussions in hopes of inspiring others to take up the cause. These are not dating events but rather bonding events that bring Black men and women together as friends first. The focus is never on 'hooking up' but rather on how we can build stronger, trusting, lasting relationships. Ice Breaker
The event begins with a series of icebreakers. One of my favorite icebreakers is when everyone has to exchange a friendly hug after introducing themselves. The participants are also asked to state what they hope to take away from the discussions. Ground Rules
We go over brief rules of conduct prior to the discussions. There are also handouts provided, that remind the participants to be respectful in their comments and responses. Openers
In the beginning, some folks may be on edge, not really knowing what to expect, so I try to make the discussion fun and interactive. A fun opener is when the men are asked to place questions in a container addressed to the women and the women place their questions in a separate container addressed to the men. The questions are passed around the table, which affords everyone the opportunity to participate in the conversation and it serves as a good way to get everyone warmed up. Exercises
I plan several exercises during the roundtable discussions but a favorite is what I call "Love Affirmations". I ask the men and women to pick names from separate containers. The women will choose men and the men will choose women. The men are asked to get down on bended knee and profess their love for Black women and the women in exchange profess their love for Black men. They must each begin their statement with "I love you Black Man because" and they are left to fill in the blank. This has nothing to do with romance. I designed this exercise to encourage an atmosphere of unity and to drive home the message that this is not a women vs. men forum. "Love Affirmations" is always a hit and never fails to draw a few tears. But, they are good tears. Healing tears that bring us closer to understanding how Black men and women can improve their relationships. So, that's a quick run through of some of the techniques I use to encourage the dialogue. I've Been Sued By A Collection Agency, What Do I Do Now?

By Greg Artim I just received notice of a lawsuit that was filed against me by a collection agency. What do I do now? I get that type of phone call at my office about once a week. Fortunately, the caller has made the obvious correct choice in contacting an attorney right away. This is an important aspect when a collection agency is involved because a collection agency lawsuit is a different type of lawsuit. The collection agency has either been hired by the original creditor or has purchased the right to collect the debt off of you from the original creditor. That makes a little more work for the collection agency and may provide you with a defense. A review of the lawsuit is the first order of business. As an attorney, I ask three questions right away that form the basis of the defense of the lawsuit. 1. Is the Debt is legitimate? 2. Does the collection agency have the legal right to attempt to collect it from you? 3. Does the lawsuit meet all necessary legal requirements to proceed? Looking at these questions individually, lets start with Is the Debt legitimate? The client has to advise as to whether they ever had this type of loan or credit card. If a collection agency is involved, the Debt may have been incurred years ago, and may be difficult for the client to remember. Time is an important factor here, because all states have Statutes of Limitation that define when a lawsuit must be filed. In Pennsylvania, the Statute of Limitation to collect on a debt is typically four (4) years, with certain exceptions. The second question is whether the collection agency has the legal right to attempt to collect from you. What I look for here is any evidence that the collection agency has authority to proceed. This might be indicated by a purchase agreement or an assignment from the original creditor. In my experience, I often find that the collection agencies fail to attach this document to their lawsuit. In that instance, I would place an objection to the suit to make the collection agency prove that the have the legal right to proceed. If they cannot, I move to have the lawsuit dismissed. The third question is whether the lawsuit meets all of the necessary legal requirements to proceed. Again, in my experience, I have found that collection agencies often fail to properly articulate the claims against the debtor, either by means of failing to provide enough information or failing to provide the proper documentation. If you are sued in Pennsylvania by a collection agency and can answer NO to any of the three questions posed above, you likely have a valid defense to the lawsuit. Can Bass See Color?

By Steven Vonbrandt This is a topic that comes up many times when discussing bass lures, and the proper colors to use. Biologists know that bass can see colors, and they probably can see red and green better than a human. Bass also have better visual acuity, which helps them during daylight and the darker periods of the day near dusk. Although there has been much written about how bass use their lateral line and sense of smell when feeding, their eyes are still their most vital sensory organ. LURE COLOR AND WATER CLARITY The clarity of the water is a key factor in determining what color lure to use. In slear water, that is les than five feet deep, bass can see colors extremely well. In thses conditions lures that mimic the baitfish available, such as spinnerbaits, jerkbaits, and crankbaits, should be used in silver and gold finishes. The silver and gold flashing more closely resembles a baitfish in this type of water, and as they wobble, and flash, they attract bass from long distances. When you are using lures such as ligs, tubes, worms, or anything that is designed to resemble a crawfish or an eel, then the best colors would be a subtle breen or brown in the clear waters. In stained water, which is what we have the most of here in the Northeast, that is water with a visibility of around one to three feet), different colors may come inti play. Brighter colors such as firetiger, charteuse, citrus shad are better producers here. In muddy water, (that is water that has a visibilty of one foot or less), dark colors produce the best. Bass will hit on crawfish patterned crankbaits, brown jigs with orange trailers, black and blue plastics, etc. SKY CONDITIONS AND COLOR Many people don't pay enough attention to the sky conditions during the day.The changing conditions of the sky dictate what color you should be using. When fishing minnow type lures, keep in mind that shiney colors like silver and gold loose their effectiveness under heavy cloud cover. In clear water, silver or gold can be rendered nearly invisible when the sun goes behind the clouds, because they reflect the grayness around them instead of the sunlight. When this happens we always switch to a bone or a pearl-white color. Jigs, Creature baits, and other bottom type lures can be hard for bass to see under dark skies. When this happens we use the same browns and blacks that we use in the muddier water, even if the water is clear, but it has become cloudy or very dark. Chartreuse is another excellent color when its cloudy. We found that Chartreuse is more effective on small lures such as grubs and small crankbaits. We just use it as a secondary color on the larger baits in these conditions. Just the right amount of a bright color such as orange or chartreuse can attract bass, just as too much of a bright color can sometimes turn them off! The best thing to do as a rule is to add bright colors to the baits a little at a time until you determine what the bass want. Once, in Virginia, the bass absolutely wouldn't hit any lig you had unless it had a small fleck of Chartreuse on the trailer. Too much and they ignored it. ADD FLASH WITH FLAKES There are many soft plastics that come with different flakes built it. A Yamamoto "IKA" tube in smoke , is a good example. This worked extremely well for us this year in all the rivers and lakes where there were a lot of shad, and the"Sweet Beaver" worked well also, but seemed much better than the Kreature on several occassions when there were not as many shad but more crawfish in the areas we sampled. Flake colors usually work best when it is sunny in clear to stained water. On cloudy days, or in muddy water, try using different plastics with black flakes, or pepper, mixed in for contrast.
